Hi, I'm Bill Berry. I'm the one third from the left on the top row. I wanted you to meet the whole Berry gang because they've all been involved in this venture in one way or another. I have been producing custom audio and video content for over 30 years. It all started when I built a recording studio in my parents' (the two folks in the middle) basement while I was in high school. I guess I caught the bug because I've been in media production ever since.
I've also been playing for church since I was 11 years old. First organ, then piano, then later leading the band on keyboards.
After graduating from Oregon State University with Bachelor's degrees in Music and Business Administration, I moved to San Diego, California and got a job in a recording studio that produced Christian radio programs. Over the next five years I recorded and edited over 2,000 Christian radio programs for World Vision, Mission to Children, Lutheran Gospel Hour, and Contemporary Countdown. I also produced numerous album projects and arranged and sequenced hundreds of songs for local songwriters.
In 1987 I started my own recording and duplicating company. We moved it to Portland, OR in 1990. We created and duplicated hundreds of audio projects - books on tape and CD, children’s music projects, language courses and instructional programs. Our studios were used for commercials, album projects, movie dialog editing, even music for the 1992 summer olympics. Our duplicating plant manufactured and packaged over 10 million media products for Jenny Craig, McGraw-Hill, ABC, Hyundai, Sony, Dorling-Kindersley, Barron’s, the NBA, Oregon Catholic Press, and hundreds of others.
In 1998 I left the business world to become the music director of a church. They were just moving into video projection and wanted to include media in all services. They were also looking to record a worship CD. My position eventually evolved into Creative Director. I oversaw all aspects of artistic and technical production. To keep up with the demand for new content, I edited and produced hundreds of custom videos for a myriad of applications as I prepared and programmed the presentation software for all services. I continued to produce CD projects for other artists and churches and consulted for other churches in design and training with their AV systems, presentation software and creative content.
In 2008 we launched Berry MediaWorks - a production company that creates custom video content. My wonderful wife, Melinda, (to my left in the picture) helps with web design, maintaining our client database, and is an excellent on-camera reader. My daughter, Madison, (bottom row, second from right) is a music major at OSU and has done voice-over for countless projects. My son, Gus, (bottom row, left) is at Berklee College of Music in Boston and works for Apple. He helps me with software updates and has actually produced and edited a number of video projects. Daughter Elle (on Grandma's lap) will probably help someday but for now mainly plays with the dog and asks for snacks. Those two guys on the upper corners of the picture are my two brothers and they have been there every time I've asked them to help me build ANOTHER studio. Great guys. Great wives. Great kids.
